Grant Gipe is the author of 8-Track Boy, the first novel in The Ryan Woods Trilogy — a literary coming-of-age series that follows Ryan Woods from a Southern boarding school in 1979 through 1980s Los Angeles and into the early 1990s during the Gulf War era.
His work explores memory, identity, power, and the emotional residue of adolescence, focusing on how people make sense of experiences they don’t fully understand while they are living them.
The second novel in the trilogy, LA Daze, is set in 1980s Los Angeles. The final installment, Momentary Lapse of Reason, takes place during the first Gulf War in the early 1990s.
